Requirements

A basic understanding of programming methodology is required in order to implement the XML VIN decoding service. DataOne Software will provide limited support via email relating only to the connection and transmission integration processes, as well as questions relating to data.

Integration: How to get started

If you have not already signed for your free 15 day trial, click on the link to the left to request an account. You should receive an automated email within minutes which will provide meaningful information related to getting started. This email will include a URL which may be submitted through your IE browser that will let you immediately being submitting VINS to the service and receiving back an XML file response.

Download the code sample below which best suits your application, or a code sample which is close enough that you are comfortable porting code to your language of choice. The technical guide is also a good reference for your development efforts. Average development time to be able to send and receive a response is about 2 hours.

   Data is updated on a daily basis, and is made available through the web service and other tools on a scheduled weekly basis
 
[ + ] Where does your data come from?
   Our data is sourced OEM direct, and we also use a variety of other tier one sources for various specialty data or media.
 
[ + ] My 15 day trial expired, and/or I have reached my VIN limit, how can I keep using the system for development/evaluation?
   Email or contact sales to let them know of your need. Typically we want to understand what your business requirements are, and gather some information before extending a trial account.
 
[ + ] I cannot decode Canadian or Fleet or Motorcycles or Vehicle dimensions or Vehicle depreciated values, do you provide this information?
   Yes we do, but it is not enabled by default. Please contact sales to let them know of your requirements for this data and we would be happy to enable this on your account. We will need your account name in any communication.
 
[ + ] I do not see any photos, do you provide this?
   Yes we do, but it is not enabled by default. Please contact sales to let them know of your requirements for this media and we would be happy to enable this on your account, and provide you with the base URL to access it. We will need your account name in any communication.
 
[ + ] I did not receive an email after the trial signup, what is the problem?
   Please check your junk mail or spam filters. Occasionally our automated email is blocked. If you need it to be resent, please contact sales and it can be resent to you at the same or different email address while you are on the phone.
